What age groups are your disco parties suitable for?
Richard’s Time Machine Disco parties can be tailor-made for children of any age, from around 5 and upwards.
I can also entertain groups of mixed age and ability.
Contact me in person to discuss arrangements for your age range, numbers, and more options for school discos, proms and larger groups.
What if my child is shy or has special needs?
I aim to make every child feel welcome and involved. I’m sensitive to different personalities and needs, and I’ll encourage participation without pressure. I have delivered many parties for children with special needs. Please get in touch to talk about what your child or group needs, so together we can plan an amazing party experience for them.
Do you take music requests?
Definitely. Your requests are welcome and help to make the party more personal. I offer full, free consultation on all aspects of your event, and you’re welcome to send a request list, a must-play, or even a do-not-play list!
However, I am an expert professional children’s entertainer, and I’m there to do my best for you. I’m an expert at reading the room and the mood of the party-goers. I know how to link your choices together with more general crowd-pleasers to create a flow that is as seamless and inclusive as possible. You can trust me to keep the party buzzing at all times.
How long do the parties last?
Most people choose a two-hour disco party, with a snack break around halfway through. I always keep your guests busy, with lots going on and plenty of energy, so they will be glad of a breather by then!
However, timings can be arranged to suit younger children, or multiple shifts of year groups at a school disco, for example.
What is included in the party package?
A standard Richard’s Time Machine party will include a professional DJ (that’s me!), a full-size disco setup including high-quality sound system and lightshow, lots of dancing, a variety of engaging games and competitions, featuring age-appropriate music tailored to your child’s preferences.
Who is Aaron Aardvark?
Aaron is my little virtual website helper. At discos, he is always first on the dancefloor, showing off his fancy moves… and there’s nothing he doesn’t know about having fun!
Do you cater for mixed age groups?
Yes – I’m an expert in balancing the music and pacing to suit a mixed crowd. Based on your requests, I’ll play music to appeal to everyone. There will usually be a good mix of freestyle dancing and self-expression woven between various set pieces and communal dances, with different levels of energy and recovery time built in – from toddlers to teens, I always make sure there’s something for everyone.
I’ll use my knowledge, experience and intuition to play the right song at the right time – at the right volume. Please read my reviews!
Do you provide party favours or decorations?
I focus purely on the entertainment, with great music and entertainment, a superb sound system and impressive light show. However, I am happy to recommend other quality suppliers for food, balloons, fancy dress, party favours and decorations to complement your event.
What safety measures are in place?
Safety at any event is always the highest priority. Please advise me of any irregular or unusual factors which may have to be accommodated at your event, and if a risk assessment needs to be carried out. All of my electrical equipment is PAT tested on an annual basis and carries up-to-date certification.
I hold full Public Liability Insurance for £10m.

How far in advance should we book?
Bookings are made on a first-come basis, so booking well ahead is a good idea. Once a booking has been made, your date, price and terms are fixed and guaranteed as recorded in your contract. Some clients who’ve used me before even book a year ahead. However, I often have availability for certain dates, or alternative dates at short notice – so it’s always worth asking!
Is there a cancellation policy?
Your booking fee secures your booking. If you cancel a booking prior to 28 days before the function date, a cancellation fee of 50% of the agreed performance fee is payable. If you cancel a booking within 28 days of the function date, a cancellation fee of 100% of the agreed performance fee is payable. If Richard’s Time Machine is forced to cancel a booking – at any time and for any reason – a replacement DJ will be supplied, if possible. If this is not possible, a full refund of all payments will be made.
